How to Find Someone’s Spotify Playlist

Richard Ellison

Spotify is a music streaming app that has taken the world by storm. With over 50 million songs and a seemingly endless amount of playlists, it can be tough to find exactly what you’re looking for. But don’t worry, we’re here to help!

In this The Awesome Mix Guide, we’ll show you how to find a specific Spotify playlist using three different methods.

How to Find a Friend’s Playlist on Spotify

If it’s one of your friend’s playlists you’re looking for and you’re already connected, Spotify has made it super easy to find. Simply follow the below steps and you’ll have your friend’s Awesome Mix in no time!

  • Open Spotify on your computer
  • Click “View”
  • Click “Friend Activity”
  • Click on the name of the friend who you want to view
  • Click “See All” next to Public Playlists
  • View their collection and click on any playlist you wish to listen to

How to Find Other Playlists

If you’re looking for a specific playlist made by somebody you’re not linked with on Spotify, there are some other ways to try and find it.

Method 1: Use the Search Function

The first method is the most obvious but also the most effective—simply use the search function! To do this, open up Spotify and click on the search bar at the top of the screen.

Then, type in either the name of the playlist you’re looking for or a keyword that describes what you’re looking for (e.g., “workout,” “chill,” etc.).

If there are multiple results, simply scroll through until you find the one you’re looking for.

Method 2: Browse By Genre

If you know what genre of music you’re in the mood for but don’t know which playlist to choose, this method is for you. Start by clicking on the “Browse” tab in Spotify.

Then, scroll down and click on “Genres & Moods.” From there, you can browse through different genres and moods until you find something that suits your fancy.

Once you’ve found a genre or mood that interests you, click on it and then scroll through the different playlists until you find one that looks promising.

Method 3: Use Google

If you know the username of the creator, you can search for their Spotify playlists using Google using the following format:

spotify:user:[username]

Method 4: Ask Your Friend to Share Their Playlist

If all else fails, ask your friend to share their playlist with you. To do so, they need to:

  • Open Spotify on a computer
  • Select the playlist they want to share in the menu on the left
  • Click the three dots under the playlist name in question
  • Hover the mouse over “Share”
  • Click Copy link to playlist

Once they have copied the playlist link to their clipboard they can email or text it to you, and you should be able to access it directly from there.

Final Thoughts on Finding Someone’s Playlist

There’s no need to spend hours scrolling through Spotify when there’s a specific playlist you’re looking for. By using the search bar, checking out Spotify’s curated playlists, or just asking your friends directly, you can narrow down your options and find exactly what you’re looking for in no time at all. So go forth and rock out!
